A cat who once slept on a mattress outside found his way into a home, turning his dream into reality.
For months, this orange and white tabby cat had made a discarded mattress his makeshift home while dreaming of a better place.
The friendly stray wandered the neighborhood, scrounging for food, and always returned to his mattress when he needed rest. Eventually, he caught the attention of Good Samaritans, who wanted to help.
They began feeding him and searching to see if anyone was missing a cat.
They contacted their local cat rescue, the Stray Cat Club, hoping to find his family or a loving home.
They posted flyers around the neighborhood, reached out on social media, and even placed a paper collar on the cat with information to help him, but it was to no avail.
“Despite our volunteer’s efforts with his finder to explore every avenue to locate his owner, no one has come forward,” the Stray Cat Club shared with Love Meow. “He was a little shy when we arrived, but our volunteer went out and collected him.”
When they picked him up, they noticed his frost-covered back—a reminder of the many freezing nights he had endured.
“Now, he’s safe and warm with us. He’ll never spend another night alone in the cold.”
The cat, named Applejacks, gradually adapted to the warmth and comfort of indoor life and soon began seeking affection and playtime with people. “It took a few days to warm up to being loved, but he’s such a lovable boy.”
He started approaching his carers for cuddles, using his voice to ask for attention. With the cold, lonely nights behind him, Applejacks grew more confident and let his true personality shine.
He greeted people with his adorable meows and gently pawed at them, eager for a cuddle.
His playful side emerged as he discovered toys, chasing and pouncing on them with renewed enthusiasm. He began following his people around the house like a shadow. “He’s hot on your trail and incredibly friendly.”
Applejacks has blossomed into a cuddly love bug with a hearty appetite and the playful spirit of a kitten. “We can’t understand how someone didn’t want him.”
From sleeping in the cold outside to lounging comfortably on a couch indoors, Applejacks now stretches his toes in bliss whenever he’s petted. He’s content with a warm place to rest, good food to eat, and kind humans who show him he’s loved.
After a few weeks in foster care, Applejacks was ready for his next chapter.
Yesterday, during a meet-and-greet, Applejacks quickly wove his way into a family’s hearts. They fell in love with his gentle, sweet nature and the way he stretched out his paws.
“He goes to his happily ever after this Sunday.”
